Data Services Spatial Analysis Cartography Programming

Data services—whether digitizing source maps or tracking down and converting existing data—is a major component of nearly all GIS projects, often comprising more than half the total work involved.  NWGIS personnel have hundreds of hours of experience digitizing from all kinds of media and transforming geographically oriented data from a multitude of source data into whatever you need.  We probably already know where to find any off-the-shelf data that may be useful for your project.  If not, we can probably track it down more efficiently than you, since we do it all the time.   We can also give you valuable suggestions early on to make the data acquisition phase of your project as efficient as possible.

Key Benefits

bulletFast and accurate digitizing to land use planning or cadastral standards
bulletExperts at tracking down and incorporating off-the-shelf geographic data
bulletExperts at transforming almost anything geographic into clean GIS coverages

Reference Accounts

All of our projects involved data services of one kind or another; however, here are a few that were mostly data-oriented:

bulletDigitized timber stand maps for Rayonier Northwest Forest Resources in Hoquiam, Washington, meeting very high technical specifications to provide cadastral accuracy for land boundaries
bulletDigitized wetlands on the Nisqually Indian Reservation for Headwaters Environmental Consulting of Seattle, Washington
bulletDigitized wetlands for the City of Aberdeen as part of a wetland inventory conducted by Pentec Environmental of Edmonds, Washington
bulletExtracted the locations of watershed improvement recommendations from historical documents and created a mappable database for Washington State Department of Transportation's Environmental Affairs Office
bulletInvestigated existing data sources, obtained and converted data for several watershed analysis projects
