Spatial Analysis
Data Services Spatial Analysis Cartography Programming

Spatial analysis involves taking two or more data layers and performing an operation on them to provide results for a specific purpose.  That operation can be simple or complex, taking minutes or hours.  The results may be in the form of statistics or a new data layer.  No matter in what the field of work, spatial analysis derives meaning from data for better decision making.

NWGIS has extensive working knowledge of the functionality and limitations of GIS software for performing spatial analysis.  We understand data limitations as well and are capable and experienced in taking the data through complex calculations.  This expertise, coupled with common sense, provide a solid foundation for accurate, unbiased analysis, giving you the results you need.

Key Benefits

bulletIn-depth knowledge of the watershed analysis process carried out by large forest landowners in the Pacific Northwest
bulletExtensive working knowledge of the spatial analysis and data integration capabilities of ARC/INFO
bulletSubstantial experience converting data between vector and raster formats to accomplish modeling objectives
bulletThorough understanding of the data modeling capabilities of GRID
bulletExperts at working with digital elevation models (DEMs) to derive new layers, such as slope, aspect, elevation bands, and hillshading

Reference Accounts

bulletDerived statistics from GIS data in conjunction with several watershed analyses in Oregon and Washington totaling 270,000 acres for Weyerhaeuser, Boise Cascade, and Rayonier in cooperation with federal and state agencies
bulletDerived statistics, analyzed and compared model outputs, and worked with clients to display results in a meaningful manner while providing GIS support to MGS Engineering Consultants on two hydrologic studies
bulletImplemented a rain-on-snow model as part of two watershed analyses for Boise Cascade, using GRID to integrate five GIS data layers—precipitation, slope, aspect, elevation, and forest canopy closure
